Royal Air Force - News & Updates
On 13th Aug 2011 members of the RAF LGBT Community joined forces with heterosexual colleagues from the Inspectorate of Recruiting to participate in Brighton Pride.
12 personnel, from all ranks, genders and sexualities took part in the parade whilst holding an RAF Careers banner and wearing RAF branded t-shirts and jumpers. Despite a rainy morning the sun came out moments before the parade started and helped keep the crowd in good spirits throughout the route.
The RAF, with Sussex Police behind them, received large cheers from the crowd. Clearly showing the support the public services have from the LGBT community.
The parade made its way into Preston Park, where the main event took place. At the park the RAF was joined by recruiters from the Royal Navy and Army with a tri-service recruiting bus. The message of the day was clearly promoting Equality and Diversity within the Armed Forces, and how far we have come in the last 11 years since the change in regulations that allowed LGBT personnel to serve openly in the military.

The day was highly successful with great feedback received from visitors to the bus, clearly impressed with the presence of all 3 services at such a high profile LGBT event.
