Equal rights, not gay rights.
In BBC readers' comments on the "Royal Navy to promote gay rights" [more
...] article one person wrote:
"I
would like to point out that the Navy is not exercising gay rights
- but is exercising
equal rights. And who can argue with that?"

The Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations
came into force in December 2003. The regulations aim to protect employees
across
the British economy against direct discrimination, indirect discrimination,
harassment and victimisation on the grounds of sexual orientation,
religion or belief. More details of how this is working in practice

The Ministry of Defence came 59th in Stonewall's annual
Corporate Equality Index for 2005 with 62.00%. Organisations participating
in Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme scored an average of 74.1%
