The aim of the Naval Service (NS) LGBT Forum is to:

“Work in partnership with Naval Service E&D Policy Staff, utilising subject matter expert (SME) knowledge within the LGBT community, to achieve a working environment in which NS LGBT personnel feel  comfortable, valued and empowered to fulfil their career potential and contribute fully to the benefit of the Service.”

The objectives of the NS LGBT Forum are to

• Provide a channel for the interests and concerns of the NS LGBT community to be communicated to NS E&D Policy Staff and progressed as required.

• Provide a channel for timely, representative feedback to NS E&D Policy Staff on specific LGBT issues that may have an effect on LGBT personnel.  This includes any potential bias in existing Service personnel or employment policies and advice on whether policy is applied in practice.

• Provide a route for the E&D Policy Staff to provide timely feedback or messages on LGBT matters to be disseminated to the NS LGBT community.

• Enable the NS to visibly demonstrate its commitment to inclusion and diversity, both internally and externally.

• In concert with the E&D Policy Staff, to develop an employee support network for LGBT issues and provide advice for those in the community needing it.
